Debbie Haver: Insanely Healthy

February 13, 20242 min read

How would you react if you went to your healthcare provider for a check-up and he or she stated you are "insanely healthy"!

That is exactly what happened when Debbie Haver went to her last physician appointment.

She told me that she smiles every time she thinks about the compliment.

At 72, Debbie says she has always been active as a wife, mother, and grandmother. She did Jazzercise years back and supported her kids in ballet and sports. With a longevity gene in her DNA, Debbie says she has watched people in her life grow "old" before their time. She's working hard to avoid that.

When Debbie joined EFW five years ago she was looking for an outlet to offset the stress of being a caregiver for her mother and sister. She says, "I knew that exercise had always helped with handling every day stress, but since joining EFW so much in my life has gotten better".

Additionally, left side weakness following a stroke 14 years ago has improved since she has committed to weekly sessions. My balance, stamina, and overall strength....and general attitude about myself has also improved. Sure there are days I want to pull the covers up over my head and not get out of bed to go to the gym, but that's not going to keep me on the track I want to be on. I don't miss my gym sessions and when I do; I try very hard to make them up within that same week.

Debbie shares that two habits that she believes have contributed to her "insanely healthy" stamp of approval include consistency and hard work in the gym and avoiding foods that contribute to inflammation. This means avoiding sugar as much as she can. "It's amazing how many things we eat have SUGAR in them....it's pretty crazy."

"The support that I get from EFW trainers and staff, as well as my fellow gym members is also amazing. Being a part of EFW is like having an extended family. We pray for each other, check on each other when we have something going on and genuinely want to hear about each other's adventures that again, EFW, has helped us all be able to enjoy." "I can't stop aging, but feeling good every day... I have control over."
