EFW Welcomes New Coach

December 17, 20232 min read

In February 2024 Evolution Fitness & Wellness will mark it's eighth year in business. When you consider that 45% of new businesses don't make it to the fifth year; I am very proud of this.

I knew in my heart that I was embarking on a journey that truly would help people live better. But, I'm not sure that I saw the expansion of my dream to include growth in our coaching staff as it currently exists.

It's been pretty exciting to be able to bring on coaching staff. Even more exciting to see that these coaches are as passionate about working with our population as I am. The cherry on the sundae so to speak is when a long time client turns coach.

For the second time this year I'm pleased to announce the addition of a client turned coach.

Meet Anita Sexton!

Anita joined EFW as a client in February of 2020. She and I met at a class I offered at Lone Star College for the Academy for Lifelong Learning. Anita has been a steadfast member of our community ever since.

Active since her youth, Anita enjoyed multiple sports & activities as a young adult. She continued playing varsity softball as well as club soccer in college and for years beyond college. Unfortunately some of that activity began to take a bit of a toll on her body. ACL and meniscus tears in both knees led to multiple knee arthroscopies, ACL repairs, and eventually partial knee replacement surgeries. Anita managed her pain, stiffness and arthritis with large amounts of anti-inflammatories and low activity. In her words, really just sitting on her bum.

Her motivation for change started as she cared for multiple family members as they aged. She watched as they lost their ability to do daily activities due to their own lack of activity. Anita didn't want the same to happen to her. She decided it was time for a change. Prioritizing her health led her to EFW where she found a community of people who shared her desire to age actively and be the best version of themselves.

Seeing and experiencing the benefits of functional training prompted Anita to pursue her certification so she could help and support others live stronger, active lives.

So it's with great pleasure that I welcome Anita to the Coaching Team at Evolution Fitness & Wellness.

Currently, Anita is team coaching our Tuesday and Thursday sessions at 10:30am and 11:15am.

Anita and I would love to have you join us!
